Savings round up - 15th April

Expectations for Base Rate have calmed with markets now pricing in an increase to 4% in the summer as the only change in 2026. However, this is not reflecting through to current pricing for fixed term savings which continue to be priced significantly higher than this and the rates on offer are excellent for savers. With Trump particuarly unpredictable, and no immediate end in sight to the Iran War, it's very hard to forsee where rates will go in 2026 but they feel significantly overpriced currently for where markets expect them to be. That makes sense, because of the situation, that banks are prepared to perhaps overpay. However, we feel the level that rates are at is a significant premium that's not warranted. This is good news for savers looking to lock in. Here's our round up of the leading providers and rates in each category:
Chase remain best buy at 4.50% - but a huge 2% of this is via a 12 month bonus rate. Cynergy Bank's bonus saver is next paying 4.27% - but like Chase 2% of this is a 12 month bonus. LHV have improved their rate by 0.25% to 4.25% and Cahoot move up to 4.17% (previously 4.05%). Vida Savings continue to pay 4.16% on their Double Access Account, where the rate drops to 2.50% after more than two withdrawals per year. Virgin Money pay 4.16% too and their account is also limited to just two withdrawals per year. Shawbrook Bank pay 4.13%, which includes a 2.13% bonus. Saga pay 4.11% but with 1.21% of this coming via a 12 month bonus of 1.21%. Cambridge Building Society's Double Access Saver, which is limited to two withdrawals after which a 120 day interest penalty applies, pays 4.10%. Vanquis complete the top 10 paying 4.08% on their Triple Access Saver.
Stafford Building Society's 180 Day Notice is still the best buy paying 4.26% - however only two withdrawals are permitted per Society year. Cynergy Bank is next as they improved their 120 Day Notice rate to 4.18%. Investec pay 4.15% for 95 Day Notice via Raisin. Vida Bank also pay 4.15% via Raisin for the same notice period. Aldermore Bank pay 4.13% on 95 Day Notice via Raisin. OakNorth pay 4.12% on their 95 Day Base Rate tracker which tracks Base Rate plus 0.37% after they reduced their rate slightly. BLME pay 4.11% on 90 Day Notice and Close Brothers pay 4.10% on the same term.
Cynergy Bank pay a best buy 4.20% for 6 Months. Chetwood Bank improved their rate to 4.17% for the same term and Al Rayan Bank pay 4.16% via Meteor Savings alongside Zopa Bank.
Kuwait Finance House are the best buy for 9 Months Fixed paying 4.17% via Raisin. Al Rayan Bank are next paying 4.15% via Meteor Savings for 9 Months Fixed and Al Rayan pay 4.15% via Raisin too. Zopa Bank pay 4.15% via Hargreaves Lansdown.
Rates have surged again with MBNA (part of LLoyds Bank) paying a market leading rate of 4.66%. There are three providers paying 4.65% - Recognise Bank, Family Building Society and Close Brothers. Birmingham Bank improved their rate to 4.60% yesterday while Chetwood Bank and JN Bank remain tied at 4.55%. OakNorth pay 4.53% with Kent Finance House paying 4.52% via Raisin. This comes with cashback of upto £150 for new savers which makes the combined rate and cashback the equivalent of a return of upto 4.92%. Habib Zurich and Kent Reliance complete the top 10 paying 4.51%.
Close Brothers lead the way paying 4.30% via Hargreaves Lansdown's Active Savings. Newcastle Building Society and Secure Trust Bank are next - both paying 4.25% for 18 Months. Zopa Bank increase their 18 Month Fixed on Hargreaves Lansdown to 4.20% and match the rate from Dudley Building Society and those of Cynergy Bank - who pay 4.20% for both their 15 Month and 18 Month Fixes. Al Rayan Bank pay 4.20% too.
Close Brothers pay a best buy 4.63% ahead of Recognise Bank at 4.60%. Hodge Bank improved to 4.58% and move above JN Bank at 4.57%. Chetwood Bank and OakNorth pay 4.55% before a drop to Kent Reliance, who cut yesterday to 4.46%. Aldermore Bank improve to 4.45% as do Charter Savings, with Hampshire Trust Bank completing the top ten at 4.41%
Hodge Bank lead the way paying 4.58%, just ahead of Close Brothers and JN Bank at 4.57%. Chetwood Bank pay 4.55% with OakNorth and Oxbury Bank tied at 4.52%. RCI Bank pay 4.50% via Raisin which also comes with cashback of up to £150 which combined gives a total return the equivalent of 4.90%. Kent Reliance pay 4.46% and Aldermore Bank and Charter Savings are tied at 4.45%.
JN Bank are the new best buy at 4.57%, way ahead of Cynergy Bank, who are next at 4.25%. Aldermore Bank are just behind them at 4.20%. Bank of Ceylon pay 4.06% via Raisin and UBL Bank also pay 4.06% via Raisin and direct. Vanquis Bank offer 4.05% as the only other provider paying north of 4%.
Close Brothers lead the way paying 4.67% ahead of Chetwood Bank, who had led with their rate of 4.65%. JN Bank pay 4.57% with Hodge Bank offering 4.51%. Chetwood pay 4.45% on Hargreaves Lansdown and Atom Bank pay this rate too.
