Savings round up - 24th July

With tensions rising again in the Middle East, swap rates have increased and this has resulted in improvements to interest rates on fixed term savings in particular. There are improved 6 Month, 1, 3 and 5 Year Fixed rates - albeit by just a few basis points. While we don't expect rates to move above 5%, if the situation continues and swap rates continue to increase, the odds on it happening will improve. Next Thursday's Bank of England Base Rate decision will almost certainly see Base Rate held but the odds on it moving up to 4% increase in September, November and December. It looks highly likely we will be at 4% before 2026 is out. The rates currently on offer more than reflect that though. Here's our round up of the leading providers and rates in each category:

Easy Access

Plum move top of easy access paying 4.52%, with 1.47% of this coming via a 6 month bonus. Chase remain at 4.50% - but 2% of this is via a 12 month bonus rate also. Saga have moved alongside Chase and also have a 12 monthbonus (1.60%) as part of their rate. Cahoot stay at 4.32% above Ulster Bank's Limited Edition paying 4.30% - this comes with a 12 month bonus of 2.75%. ThisBank (previously JN Bank) pay 4.28% on their triple access account. Cynergy Bank pay 4.23% with 2% as a 12 month bonus. Charter Savings Bank and Kent Reliance both pay a straight 4.21% on their easy access account.
